Special menus highlight Thanksgiving buffets

By E.C. Gladstone

No holiday focuses on food more than Thanksgiving, the time we get together and remember our forebears' success in sustenance. Virtually every restaurant in Las Vegas will be offering some sort of Thanksgiving menu – focusing on the classic turkey and trimmings, corn bread stuffing, green beans, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie, of course. But we thought it a great time to focus on our famous buffets, the places that really know how to put out a feast, making it easy for everyone at the table to get as much as they want of whatever they want.

Choosing which one to try is never an easy task, as Thanksgiving Day times, menus and prices vary, but here are a few of the special items being served at some of our favorites:

The Buff et at Bellagio, a long-standing leader, is sparing no expense to put on a lavish layout. Specialties you'll see include smoked pork loin and blackeyed pea salad, pulled turkey, blue cheese and cranberry-compote pizza, pumpkin ravioli, Boston steamed clams, mascarpone-whipped potatoes and cider-glazed venison (877.234.6358).

At M Resort's showstopping Studio B Buff et, selections include celery root soup with apple and calvados essence, roasted duck and caramel pumpkin fl an (702.797.1000).

Augmenting their French-oriented selections, Le Village Buff et at Paris Las Vegas also offers specialties like apple sausage brioche stuffing, turkey with Madeira gravy and sweet potato gnocchi (877.796.2096). Mandalay Bay's Bayside Buff et is promising roasted game hens, wild mushroom salad and pumpkin cream soup among the holiday specialties (702.632.7777). Spice Market Buff et at Planet Hollywood Resort is serving fire-roasted tom turkey and cranberry-glazed rotisserie chicken with brie croquettes among its international offerings (702.785.5555). Carnival World Buff et at Rio features all the traditional treats, too, as well as an enticing sweet potato soup and butternut squash with spiced apple dressing (800.752.9746).

And Palms' Bistro Buff et will be putting a little spin on things, too, with maple-roasted sweet yams and mango chutney stuffing for your turkey (866.942.7777).

Others serving the holiday meal include Cravings at The Mirage, one of the best here, so expect their spread to impress (702.791.7777), as well as the MGM Grand Buff et (877.880.0880), The Round Table Buff et at Excalibur (877.750.5464), Feast Buffets at Green Valley Ranch (702.617.7777) and Red Rock Resort (702.797.7576), Seasons Buff et at Silverton (702.263.7777) and Golden Nugget (702.385.7111).
